AVIA Statement on Teamsters Lawsuit to Undermine California Autonomous Truck Policy

WASHINGTON – Today, the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association released a statement from CEO Jeff Farrah on the recently announced Teamsters lawsuit against the several California agencies regarding autonomous trucking regulations:

“This lawsuit from the Teamsters sets a new standard in abusive and frivolous litigation and cannot be taken seriously.

“Regulators spent several years soliciting feedback from all stakeholders, including labor organizations, industry, and workers, before moving forward to develop commonsense policy that ensures the safe deployment of autonomous trucks in the state. This is just a last-ditch attempt to undermine the regulatory authority of the Department of Motor Vehicles, and it should be rejected.”
