WASHINGTON - The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) applauds New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s announcement of forthcoming legislation to enable autonomous vehicle (AV) deployment in the state.
AVIA CEO Jeff Farrah released the following statement:

Autonomous vehicle advancement in New York marks a transformative step forward for the future of transportation. AVs never drive impaired, distracted, or drowsy, and real-world data shows they are already making American roads safer. This technology will save lives while also expanding mobility for older adults, people with disabilities, and families across New York.
“New York has long been a global leader in finance, media, and innovation. The Empire State can lead in transportation as well by putting in place a policy framework for autonomous vehicles. We look forward to working with lawmakers and regulators in Albany to bring safe, driverless vehicles to New York’s roads, unlocking job growth, improving logistics, and delivering access to mobility in every community.”
