WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Autonomous Vehicle IndustryAssociation (AVIA) today announced the promotion of Renée Gibson to Vice President of Government Affairs. In this expanded role, Gibson will lead AVIA's federal and state policy strategy and advocacy efforts. AVIA continues to be the leading organization in the U.S. advocating for a federal framework for autonomous vehicles and state policy that supports AV advancement and innovation.

Gibson joined AVIA in 2023 and has been instrumental in building relationships with key policymakers, advancing AVIA's legislative priorities, and positioning the organization as the leading voice on autonomous vehicle policy in Washington and state capitals. She was recognized in 2025 as one of Washingtonian’s 500 most influential people for her work to advance autonomous vehicle policies. Her promotion recognizes her strategic leadership during a critical period for federal AV policy development.
