States are taking the lead on autonomous vehicles. From Texas to Arizona, Michigan to Florida, 26 states have passed laws that enable the testing and deployment of AVs on public roads. These efforts reflect a growing recognition that AVs can:

The 2025 State of AV report highlights the major progress by AVIA members, the nation’s leading AV developers, including more than 145 million autonomous miles driven on U.S. public roads and commercial deployments spanning robotaxis, zero-occupancy vehicles, and long-haul  trucks. 145 million autonomous miles driven on U.S. public roads represents more than double the number of miles since AVIA last reported the data in April 2024.
